The Welcoming Reception and Barbecue Buffet Dinner were to be held on the Palmyra Deck of the Peaks Hotel.  It was moved indoors because of the threat of rain.

The sky cleared before the end of the dinner revealing beautiful mountain views in all directions.  The reception provided an opportunity for MHAers to meet old friends and make new ones.

Following the Welcoming Reception and Dinner, Steve Lee, a historical reenactor, presented “Meet Bulkeley Wells - A Glamorous Man.”  He was introduced by Rudy Davison with a presentation, “The Life of Bulkeley Wells.”  Wells, a notorious figure in Telluride, was the President and Manager of the Smuggler-Union Mine Company who led the effort to defeat the World Federation of Miners’ efforts to unionize the mines in 1901-1904.  Lee’s interpretation focused on Wells’ final hours before he committed suicide in 1931.

A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL
