The Park City Museum is housed in an historic building along Main Street.

A fire engine is visible below the hose drying tower.

Above and Right) The museum has a unique way of recognizing the many donors who have given their support.  Drill cores are inscribed with the names of the donors.

(Above and Right) The two-story gallery on the first floor portrays the commercial side of Park City from the mining boom to the ski mecca.

Several exhibits take advantage of the three-story museum design.  The first and second story show how a double-decker cage carried miners and ore cars.

The basement level of the museum acts as a level deep in an underground mine.

(Above) A mine car full of high-grade ore waits on the level to be hoisted to the surface.

(Right) Pat skips the miners cage and takes the modern elevator.

(Above) In the early days of Park City as a ski resort, this mine car carried skiers 14,000 feet through the Spiro Tunnel to the Thaynes Shaft.  The mine cage lifted them up the shaft to the surface so they could ski down the trails.

(Above) In the basement of the museum, old jail cells are a reminder of more lawless days in the mining camp.  It was called “The Dungeon.”

(Right) “The Dungeon” had all the modern conveniences.

Special thanks to the Park City Museum for being a sponsor of the

2024 Mining History Association Conference and for the hospitality

shown the MHAers visiting the museum during the conference.
