    MHA IRON POUR DEMONSTRATION

      
    It all starts with iron, SLOSS Pig Iron.
    The No. 2 Casting Shed has its own blacksmith’s shop.


    Final products take many forms from complex ...

    		 … to simple.

    The real fireworks take place at the in the miniature furnace with MHAers at a safe distance!
    Checking the melt.  Things are heating up.  Everyone has their PPE.

     


    Tapping the molten iron.

    Skimming impurities and pouring the iron into the mold.




    Molds take many shapes and forms..

    Quenching the hot slag and shutting down the furnace.
