The MHA 2019 Welcoming Reception was held on the grounds of the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum in Ishpeming. The Cliffs Shaft Mine complex became a Michigan Historic Landmark in 1973.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

The Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum is located on the south shore of Lake Bancroft.  The two Egyptian revival concrete headframes built in 1919frame the site with the 1955 modern headframe at the center.  These headframes replaced the original 1870s wooden ones.

Craig Ilmonen, Director of the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum, welcomes the MHAers to Michiganís Upper Peninsula and the Marquette Iron Range.

The museum occupies the old Minersí Dry building, ca1901.  One of the iconic concrete headframes of the Cliff Mine is seen above.

The MHAers were able to tour the museum, enjoy a tasty buffet, and greet friends old and new.

Volunteer docents were on hand to provide tours of the Cliffs Shaft Mine Museum and to answer countless questions from the MHAers.
